What are “Kashipan and Souzaipan”? They are Japanese specialty breads.

Kashipan & Sozaipan

It has been a long time since bread was first introduced to Japan.
In 1543, Portuguese sailors were cast ashore on the coast of Nagasaki.
They introduced guns and Western culture, including the concept of bread.
Thus, it is said that breads were introduced during that time.

The name ‘Pan,’ which the Japanese use to refer to bread, originates from the word ‘Pao’ in Portuguese.
‘Kashi’ in ‘Kashipan’ means confectionery, and ‘Souzai’ in ‘Souzaipan’ means household dish.
Since rice has been a staple food in Japan, there used to be no food like bread.
After the introduction of bread, it has been developed to meet Japanese taste or flavor.
As a result, breads for confectionery “Kashi pan” and  household dish “Souzai pan” are developed.
